This is a poem about my stay at Burrum Heads. The place is tidal and everyday we have to swim when the tide is high.
Every day you take a tide.
Tomorrow you turn with pride.
I loath your underwelming ebb,
But rejoice your return instead.
Puzzled are your rips and rays.
Every river waits your delay.
Time sets your rhythmic tune,
Of saltwater upon the dune.
Up in the river afar,
Trouble leaves a watery scar.
Young rivers return too fast,
When rain teases your tide to last.
River take my troubles away,
Because I want the tides to stay.
Every tide you run away,
Retreating with my fun and play.
In the rains I yearn for where
You frighten my inhabitants there.
Tide please keep me happy so
When I come you don't go.
