Sydney Harbour

My family live in Sydney and we went down to visit them. These are my thoughts about that trip. The Harbour needs our help and this poem is about why.

The harbour of no hope

The harbour of no hope

The waves crash on me.
The frost rises from me.
The trains cross me
And the bridge spans me.

Return to the beginning
And the rivers make me.
But the city wastes me
Because I am a drain.

You love my depth
But I have your hearts.
Decisions about me
Give hate towards me.

Treats are barnacles on me
And boats across me.
Heaven is a sun above me
When sons play on me.

Every dance enlightens me
Because girls repose me
On the jetties within me
When play is upon me.

The girls forget me
Upon summer beside me.
As winter escapes me
Together they fight for me.

If thunder finds me
I am ready to ground thee.
Because energy is me
As water engulfs me.

Time takes from me
A freedom to be me.
As choices kill me
You govern for me.

Then you must free me
From the destruction of me.
When trust in me
Is lost to laws about me.

If going to visit me
Is a question to thee
Then ask for me
A question to me.

A river makes me
So don’t dam thee.
A harbour is me
You can’t but deny me.

Please forgive me
For the drownings inside me.
You depend on me
To live on me.
