Darkness and Light

I have been thinking about the way the darkness is a place the light invades by shining a wave through the air. The light is a violent force, never stopping or being at peace. The darkness is peaceful and still. When people tell stories, that out of the darkness came the devil, they give darkness a bad character. This is a poem about what I believe the darkness is.

You find in darkness an inner cave.
You find in darkness a life to save.
This is the dark for me.

You find in darkness a place others can't see.
You find in darkness a closed sanctuary.
This is the dark for me.

You find in darkness a friend in peace.
You find in darkness a holy niche.
This is the dark for me.

You find in darkness a freedom from light.
You find in darkness a break from sight.
This is the dark for me.

You find in light a force for change.
You find in light a hateful exchange.
This is the light for me.

You find in light the God of Sun.
You find in light his love of war and gun.
This is the light for me.

You find in light an absence of peace.
You find in light hateful speech.
This is the light for me.

You find in light a fight with darkness.
You find in darkness an absence of light.
This is a battle to be.
This is a battle to be free.

This is the dark for me.
